“The Bear”
Bear Complex 7-7-7-7-7
WOD Notes: The bear complex is a barbell progression consisting of power clean -> front squat -> push press -> back squat -> push press (from behind the head). For The Bear, you must tap the floor and repeat for a total of SEVEN consecutive bear complexes. A few ground rules:
- You MAY NOT rest the bar on the floor until you complete all 7 times through the sequence. However, you can rest the bar anywhere on your body.
- You ARE allowed to combine the front squat -> push press into a thruster. (Same for the back squat -> push press.)
- You may NOT combine the power clean -> front squat.
Compare to 140715.
Community Notes: CrossFit Apex (Souderton) along with honorary ICAer Todd Pollock will be hosting a unique CrossFit event on Saturday, Aug 23 from 10am to 1pm. Teams of 4 will carry some workout gear 2 miles to a pool, swim a mile and then haul the gear back for time. It should be a fun endurance event! For a link to the website, click here. I can’t believe I’m posting this…
1 year ago I paced DaveB at the Labor Pains 12 hour run. Its a 5 mile fairly flat trail loop in Reading. Goal is to do it as many times as you can in 12 hours. Simple as that.

Pacers come to cheer (and drink beer) and run laps with you to keep you motivated and moving and can run as few or as many laps as they want. Certainly not a fast pace as I’m hoping to do either 40 or 45 miles. So we’ll have a tent set up at base camp with food and supplies where our pacers will hang out waiting to run.
This year I signed up with my buddy from high school. Dave and Erin have already done it I believe 3 yrs running and Erin is doing it again. Not sure about Dave yet as his knee is injured. A bunch of other ICAers will be there too either pacing or cheering or both.
So this is an open invitation! The more the merrier. If you’re interested in signing up to run the whole thing or just to pace, let me know. We’ll need lots of pacers so if you’re interested in doing one or more 5 mile loops, let me know. Thanks!

I can echo Dan’s sentiments…it is totally a fun day and don’t be intimidated about the distance or your pace! By the time we are permitted to have pacers, we’ll have anywhere between 10-15 miles under our belt and the MPH goes down as the day progresses.
Please join us to run, to cheer, or heckle! 🙂
